Colleges are getting creative with their appearances. Why are they doing this? Easy. A good-looking sports team is the best marketing tool. When the football team looks good, people think that school is cool. Then, those people want to go there.
I’ve created a list of the Top 10 Coolest Uniforms in College Football.
10. North Carolina Tar Heels
UNC has a really sweet helmet with a enormous tar heel on it. When they wear that with their white and Carolina blue jerseys, they look pretty badass.
9. Maryland Terps
These jerseys are hit or miss for a lot of people out there, but the university is obviously proud of their state flag so I still give them a 10 for creativity and effort.
8. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Raise your hand if you know what a “Hilltopper” is? Okay. I like that this school is trying to make a name for themselves. They make my top 10, which doesn’t mean much, but at least someone is noticing their striking new jerseys.
7. Arizona State Sun Devils
ASU recently revamped their logo to a simple pitchfork. When these guys wear their black jerseys with the yellow details, they look mean as hell (no pun intended).
6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame has had some pretty boring uniforms over the last 100 years or so, but they’re final making a fashion statement. I like this all white look with the gold helmets they’re wearing this year.
5. Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State always has a lot of competition in appearance. This is because their in-state rival, “Nike University,” has the coolest jerseys in the league (spoiler alert). But orange is a cool color, and everybody loves black. So their orange and black jerseys sneak into my top 5.
4. Navy Midshipmen
Navy has definitely shown a lot of improvement in their football program over the last couple of years, and these jerseys are a pretty good way to get recruits. I like them just outside the top 3.
3. Boise State Broncos
Boise State is really good at looking cool. Their royal blue pants with their white, black, and grey top options definitely look nice on their unique blue field.
2. West Virginia Mountaineers
The Mountaineers have gotten a lot of coverage over the last few years, thanks to Geno Smith and their explosive offense. Their 2013 jerseys are simple but so sleek and they just miss the number one spot.
1. Oregon Ducks
This one is obviously a given considering that they try and wear a different color combination every single week. If the creator of Nike graduated from my school, I’d expect some pretty unique jerseys myself. Not much else to say about Oregon other than they are easily the coolest university in the nation.
